Welcome back to Streaming Made Easy (SME).
It’s summertime so let’s dive into some of the most read pieces of H1 2024.
Enjoy today’s read.
After the launch frenzy of the 2019s, it's been quiet on the European front.
So imagine my excitement when I saw the news on KOCOWA+ launching in 39 countries across Europe and Oceania, and HBO Max making it to France.
As much as our industry loves doomsday headlines, there is still room for growth in streaming and particularly in Europe. The EMEA region was Netflix's biggest subscriber contributor in Q1 2024 with 2.92M net additions (31% of total net subs added).
For the occasion, I took a look at the Korean streaming landscape and how Kokowa+ ambitions to super serve K-Content fans in Europe and beyond.
As for HBO Max, here’s why I consider the French launch to be the most challenging one to date for Warner Bros Discovery.
Now no Summer Hits edition would be complete without Netflix who is more and more flying solo In Streaming Land. Distribution has a lot to do with it, find out why.
That’s it for today but before you go:
Enjoy your weekend and see you next Friday for another edition of Streaming Made Easy!
